• The shoulder is the most mobile joint in the body

• It allows complete circumduction of the upper limb

• This comes from the combined motion of the gleno-humeral and scapular-thoracic joints

• Motion in the plane of the scapula involves both joints with an approximate ratio of 2:1 (G-H:S-T)
