• Anterior fibers are tensioned from 45\(^{\circ}\) abduction and abduction with external rotation

• The limit external rotation and abduction (with the anterior fibers) and are the principal block to antero-inferior subluxation

• Posterior fibers are are tension from 45\(^{\circ}\) abduction and abduction with internal rotation

• The limit internal rotation and abduction (with the posterior fibers) and are the principal block to posterior and inferior subluxation

• Combined, the anterior and posterior fibers with the axillary recess limit abduction of the humerous and helps place the humerous in the scapular plane allowing the joint to maintatin its position
