23.18 Middle gleno-humeral ligament

• Tensioned in external rotation and abduction and adduction up to 60

• Limits external rotation when abduction is less than 60

• Principle barrer against anterior dislocation when the arm in in netral rotation whatever the abduction (helped by the superior gleno-humeral ligament)

• Barrier against external roation of abduction is less than 60(maximal at 45).

• It is a secondary barrier with the inferior ligament against antero-internal dislocation when the arm is in external roation and abduction greater than 60.

  • Has no role beyond 90\(^{\circ}\) (sliding upwards)

• Secondary barrier with the superior ligament against inferior subluxation in adduction and external rotation.
