Recent versions of the FORTRAN standard allow a more precise control of the name mangling of FORTRAN functions which could be used to circumvent this issue. However, we lack experience on that specific point. Another solution is that FORTRAN implementations can be used using a C wrapper, which is quite feasible but this requires some advanced knowledge of C and FORTRAN interfacing.
